ABOUT THE HOST

Louise Pitre earned a Tony nomination for her role as Donna Sheridan in Mamma Mia! and made her Broadway debut when Mamma Mia! opened at the Winter Garden Theatre in 2001 (where she held the role for two years).

She became a favourite of Toronto audiences with performances as Fantine in Les Misérables and as the title character in Piaf. She has also starred in Annie Get Your Gun, Song & Dance, Jacques Briel Is Alive And Well And Living In Paris; I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change; The World Goes 'Round; Blood Brothers; Tartuffe; Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf?; The Roar of the Greasepaint,The Smell of the Crowd; Applause; and Rock 'n' Roll etc. She is the winner of three Dora Mavor Moore Awards, the National Broadway Touring Award, a New York Theatre World Award, a San Francisco Critics' Circle Award and a Bessie Award: all for best performance by a leading lady in a musical.

Louise can be seen as the host of CTV's series Star Portraits on Bravo! Other TV: Lifetime's A Christmas Wedding, Recipe for a Perfect Christmas, CBC's MVP, as Celine Dion's mother, Therese, in CBC's biopic Celine.

Louise is the recipient of three honourary degrees from the Royal Conservatory of Music, Humber College and her alma mater, The University of Western Ontario (Honourary Doctorate of Music).

On September 23rd and 24th, 2009, Louise sang the role of Ulrika in the concert version of Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus' new musical Kristina at Carnegie Hall! Most recently she won a Dora for her role in the Toxic Avenger where she played Mayor Babs Belgoody and Ma Ferd and has just wrapped Love, Loss, and What I Wore in Toronto.
